This is Dr. Lee Valentine, who recently spoke at the L.A. Space Salon.  I'd never heard of him before but the subject of the lecture was of interest to me - settling/colonizing space.  It was a cool night, and I was surrounded by either some of the smartest people in Los Angeles or some of the best sci-fi geek BS-ers I've ever met.  ;P  Either way, it was fascinating and fun, and I think I understood about 60% of what they were talking about!  Though I still can't find any more information about Dr. Valentine other than the fact that he is on the board at the non-profit Space Studies Institute.  Also, I was really impressed with his likeness to Captain (Sexy) Picard.
